Imagine losing your entire family as a four-year-old and then having to move in with one abusive foster family after another. This is such a sad story but also inspiring and heartwarming. I highly recommend picking this book up and reading about this woman’s journey through foster care and the endless search for her family and her identity.

Inspiring doesn’t do justice to what this book is all about. It’s so much more! Eugenea depicts what it is like to lose your entire family, endure hardships, not only in the foster care system, but life in general, and live life determined to find herself and her family. This book puts into words what many can’t speak of concerning their own struggles as a child and as adults that are products of the foster care system who suffered abuse, neglect and loss of family. The fact that Eugenea was successful in her quest to keep her own children safe as well as find her biological family gives one hope that if she can do it, maybe they can do it too. Inspiring, powerful, hopeful….an absolute must read! Thank you for sharing your story Eugenea, and being a voice for the voiceless.

As a long time Foster Parent it was a wonderful book to read to help understand all that these children may go through coming into Foster Care. Thank goodness many things have changed since Eugenea went through the “system”. Still need many more changes to happen
